What is happening in The Room?

Meet us for our next quarterly Writers and Illustrators Meet & Greet at Bunratty Tavern in Reading, MA!

Our next Writers and Illustrators Meet & Greet will be held in
Bunratty Tavern at 620 Main Street, Reading, MA.

Monday, December 30th
Between 6:30 and 8:30 PM

Let's meet up and get motivated to make more room for writing and art of every kind in the new year! All adult writers and illustrators of all genres and levels are invited to come out and connected with a community of creative minds to start 2020 write-minded!

Hit the ground writing with a FREE writing workshop--Tuesday, January 21st--sponsored by NESCBWI:

Have you ever been told that you “tell” too much in your writing; that you need to “show” more? What does that even mean? Join me as I share specific examples from published books to demonstrate how to infuse your writing with more detail and pull your reader into your story. Come prepared to write as we workshop our own writing samples. You'll never be accused of "telling" not "showing" again!

The Room to Write is excited to help bring a ShopTalk workshop to the Wakefield Beebe Memorial Library. ShopTalks are offered through NESCBWI (New England Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) and present a FREE opportunity for local adult writers of all genres and levels to participate in a professional workshop sponsored by NESCBWI and the Wakefield Public Library. Kris Asselin will be presenting her workshop Writers Toolbox: Show and Tell, Reinventing Your Scene on Tuesday, January 21st at 7:00 PM. Save the date and Register for the workshop to ensure your spot by clicking HERE! Make more room for your writing in the new year!

About the Author: Kristine Asselin is the author of sixteen works of children’s nonfiction as well as the YA novels Any Way You Slice It and Falling for Wonder Boy and co-author of the middle grade novel The Art of the Swap. She loves being a Girl Scout leader and volunteering with the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She is a sucker for a good love song (preferably from the 80s), and can’t resist an invitation for Chinese food or ice cream (but not at the same time!). She lives in Central Massachusetts with her teen daughter and husband, and spends part of every day looking for a TARDIS to borrow.
